GRADUATES
Since Syrena's inception in 1975. Syrena is proud to have over 100 dancers (to date) who have been honored and presented as graduates of the Ensemble and from their respective high schools

This year we will be adding two more to an already impressive list: Our 2009 graduates are Kaitlyn Burbank and Chesley Starin

 
 
    Kaitlyln is the 17-year old daughter of Scott and Laura Burbank and the younger sister of Jacquelynn, Ashley and Brandon. She is a second generation dancer and the last of the Burbank girl to graduate from the Ensemble. Kaitlyn has been an active member for the past 14 years.

Kaitlyn is a senoir at Riverview Community High School where she maintain a 3.0 GPA. She is in the Co-Op program at her school, also works in the Riverview Preschool Program where she workss with children helping them delevop their basic skills. Kaitlyn is also in the Riverview High School Choir, as a member of the Choir she participates in Choral Productions, Christmas programs, Graduation Commencements, and sing the National Anthem at home sporting events. She is also a member of the school dane team where she recieved a varsity letter for it. As part of the dance team, she has competed in numerous competitions including a competition at U of M in Ann Arbor. In addition they get to choreograph some of their routines. Kaitlyn has recieved Awards for "Best Facial Expression" and "Best Attitude" form her dance camp

In her spare time, she is involved with many school functions that include attending all varsity games and school dances, participates in the powder puff football game, and helps the dance team with different events and fundraisers. Kaitlyn plans to attend college in the fall.



    Chelsey is the 17-year old daughter of Ross and Kathy Starin. She has been a member of the Syrena Dance Ensemble for 14 years. She is a member of the travel troupe and has preformed in Boyne, Broson, Manistee, New York as well as many local festivals.

Chelsey is a senior at Crestwood High School. Since entering high school, Chelsey has devloped an interest in art. She enjoys painting, drawing, and photography. She plans to attend Henry Ford Community College in the fall and then attend Wayne State University where she will pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Art Education. Chelsey is also interested in fashion, fashion design and has done some modeling.

Chelsey has also been active in sports. She has played soccer since she was 9 years old for the Dearborn Heights Soccer Club, Dearborn Soccer Club, Kiernans, Select Team and Crestwood High School. Chelsey has also played volleyball for Riverside Middle School, Madonna Junior Crusaders AAU Volleyball Team and Crestwood High School. She has earned varsity letters from Crestwood in both soccer and volleyball.
